Because they were driving erratically. I feel as an enthusiast I have the responsibility to put my car in between shitty drivers and the populace because I feel like I could handle my car in a been hit situation than most. Is that weird?

Friendly advice: I would probably take this post down if I were you.

I've felt that way before, but I don't bother with others now. People who drive like hell are bound to get there soon.

I actually stay far away from such people, and believe me there are quiet a few on the NJ roads. But more over I love my car, I take good car of it, and wouldn't want it to be in a hit or been hit situation. to begin with...

Dude you are married now, more important things to worry about. No need to put yourself at risk (even minimal) for stuff like this. Not trying to beat you up, just trying to put things in perspective.

And more important - probably a good idea to not sacrifice yourself to help others. You don't want to die and become a martyr. Not worth it, life is too precious!

Yep, its weird.

I don't do it for the people who are driving erratically. They can suck a dick. I'm doing it to protect the innocent bystanders.

But don't I have a social responsibility as a person with above average driving skill to do what I can to protect those that aren't driving like a jackass?

I know, and I'd never do anything to put myself at risk of death. But if I can control a situation that could save someone else's life just by sacrificing a fender, am I right to not do so?

If you were a law enforcement officer, yes. Sorry, but I think this is a bad idea.

Unless he's Batman it is a bad idea.

Unless he is a pretend Batman in a Lambo, then it's OK

Well, Batkid with a Lambo, and a city's worth of cops with you. Then it might be ok.

No, your social responsibility ends at not putting other people in danger on the roads. You may be confident in your skills as a driver but in cutting people off who drive erratically can result in an accident that you instigated. Take my word for it, its not worth risking your life and people around you to make people adhere to traffic rules, Its not your Job! Being an enthusiast does not give you the right to police the highways..

I would agree. I often wish I could be a traffic cop because I see so many people who deserve to be pulled over.

Excessive and aggressive bobbing and weaving that is dangerously close and running up on slower drivers way too hard.
